Following his visit to Iraq on Wednesday afternoon, September 12, 2024, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting with prominent Iranian business leaders and economic activists at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad. Among the select group of 30 leading economic figures invited to represent Iran was Dr. Morteza Pouyan, founder and pioneer of the Towzin Group.
Dr. Pezeshkian emphasized that one of the main objectives of his trip to Iraq was to facilitate the activities of Iranian businesspeople and manufacturers, stating, “In meetings and discussions with senior Iraqi officials, we agreed to establish a specialized working group to develop a comprehensive long-term strategic plan between the two countries.”
During the meeting, the President asked the business leaders and economic activists present to voice any problems they felt were hindering their operations. He assured them that the issues raised would be presented to the aforementioned working group, adding, “Your prosperity benefits both Iran and Iraq. Be sure to engage with the working group that will be formed to develop this strategic plan so that the best possible program for further expanding economic interactions between the two countries can be formulated.”
Pezeshkian recognized the reciprocal relationship between expanding and promoting economic interactions and enhancing economic security and stability, stating, “The flourishing of economic activities and trade exchanges requires peace, stability, and security. The more these interactions expand, the more they will contribute to the enhancement and greater stability of peace and security.”
